The other day, while searching for some info about the PC Connection Australia BBS, I came across some references to the Microbee Matilda computer. They all contained fundamentally incorrect details.
Launched in 1982, the Microbee was a very successful Australian-designed and manufactured 8-bit Z80-based CP/M computer. More than 70,000 were sold and used in Australian schools, homes and businesses.
Yes, there was a time when we designed and made computers in Australia.
I know a thing or two about the concept, design, manufacturing, launch and marketing of the Microbee Matilda - the last Microbee computer. Thus, I needed to add a page to my website — as you do — to correct the misleading information.
So, over the last few days, I've put together a page at https://www.borrett.id.au/computing/microbee-matilda.htm
Along the way, I've reconnected with some old friends and relived plenty of fond memories.
There is some extra stuff I'd like to add to the web page, but it's a start.
Enjoy.
